THOUSANDS OF KANSAS RESIDENTS WILL SOON BE LOST NEAR GOODLAND

Worldwide Maize Craze Pops Up In Goodland, Offering Mysterious New Outdoor Entertainment

(Goodland, Kansas)August 2006 - With no UFO sightings reported in Kansas this year, the mystery remains as to how an extraterrestrial-like design has taken shape in a Goodland cornfield. Bringing the maze craze to the topside of Kansas, Cole Family Farms will unravel the mystery when they re-open the area’s first MAiZE, an intricate network of twists and turns carved into 10 acres of corn, on September 16.The Cole's and maze designer Brett Herbst, the world’s leading designer of 600+ corn mazes worldwide -- hope to challenge the wits of those seeking to find the one exit from their mind-boggling puzzle -- a unique source of good farmin' fun for adults and children alike. Though the correct pathway can be walked in only 15 minutes, most wandering maze-goers will require about one hour to travel through more than three miles of twists, turns and decision points. This year our maze is all about us! Our logo includes a corn cob to maneuver and, of course, the name of the top city in Northwest Kansas - GOODLAND! The MAiZE will give Kansas residents and anyone just drivin' through,  the chance to "get lost" September 22 through October 28. Hours of operation are Saturdays from 3 - 10 pm. Bring your flashlights and get lost in the dark!  Sundays from 3 - until it starts to get dark. Field trip hours, on Fridays, are available by reservation. The location is Exit 17 off I-70, north to 8th street, and east to the maze. Cost is $8 for ages 13 and up, $6 for ages 6-12, and free for kids 5 and under. Discounts are offered for groups and field trips of 25 or more. For more information or to make reservations, call 785-899-2132.
